The Surf

The surf in France is world famous and renowned for its powerful and challenging waves. However, the coast is littered with thousands of different waves suitable for all levels of surfing experience.

We are situated on a 200km long stretch of beach meaning you can grab a board and go for a stroll and find empty waves all to yourself. The quality of the waves change with the tides and conditions on any given day.

All our staff are extremely experienced surfers and many have worked in the area for years meaning there is no better team to help you surf the best waves on offer suited to your ability. You can read up on surfing in France and the rest of the world at surfing-waves.com

Equipment

How many boards you bring is really up to you. Some guests may choose to bring their whole quiver with them however we can arrange board hire and rental at low prices if needs be. Because there is a wide variety of waves to surf in France, no one board can be said to be the best.

We advise you to bring an all rounder board and one you feel comfortable with. The water temperature of France sits around a refreshing 21 degrees and most people choose to surf in a summer wetsuit or board shorts.

All equipment is provided for the lessons and all people booked into lessons can use the equipment outside of lesson time. Anyone staying at the camp without lessons can hire their own board and wetsuit for €6 per item per day.

Other Activities

There really is something for everyone with activities for the nature lovers, adrenaline junkies, party animals, cultural travelers and lets not forget our avid surfers.

Sometimes we cannot teach if the local lifeguards declare the beach "red flag". Should this happen, we have a range of activities we arrange for you to enjoy such as paint-balling, go-karting, wine tasting, shopping and the infamous red flag parties.

We also run 3 weekly excursions. Those who want to can join us in St Sebastian for a day of sightseeing and shopping followed by a bar crawl and nights partying before an early morning bus ride home, this is definitely the highlight of everyones trip. We also run a similar party night in Hossegor famous for its bars and world class waves. Shopaholics also get the chance to be driven to all the surf outlets where the factories of all the famous surfing brands sell their merchandise at heavily discounted rates.

Alcohol and Partying

Hossegor is famous for its nightlife and great surf. Most evenings in in the camp are spent having a few cold beers analyzing the surf footage from the day and deciding where to surf the next morning. Once a decision has been reached it is not uncommon for a few quiet beers to turn into a lively night out in the many top quality bars and clubs.

However the focus of the trip is to surf and improve your surfing and therefore we believe we have the perfect balance between partying and activities. Naturally if you want to party more your welcome to go out every night, just don't expect us to keep up the pace!

It is our staffs responsibility to provide high quality and enjoyable surf lessons in a clean and comfortable camp however it is your responsibility to wake yourselves up in the mornings in time for your lessons.

Yoga

We have an incredibly talented andaffordable yoga instructor on our camp giving 3 weekly lessons. You can book yourself into the lessons for €9 a week upon arrival at the camp.

Weather

One of the main attractions of France is the beautiful summer weather. Bikini's and board-shorts are perfectly acceptable swim wear for the beach but there is also a nudist beach near by for the more adventurous surfers out there.

We advise you to bring plenty of sun-cream, a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the summer sun.

The evenings are a lot cooler so bring warm clothes and check the weather forecasts before leaving to ensure you pack appropriately.
